Duke stood in the gym, dribbling a soccer ball between his feet. He then bounced it up onto the crook of his ankle and then onto his knee. When it was in the air he twirled around and kicked the ball across the room. As Duke landed he looked where the ball had landed and smirked, "Better than last time."
Duke walked up to the ball and tried a different move. He is very flexible, in body and moves. This time he just kicked the ball into the air and did a backflip and kicked it. He has a lot of fun learning moves, no matter how difficult.

Cordelia was bummed. Her campaign for 'Sadie Hawkins Queen' was going pretty well. The idea of giving brownies out to the students worked great, especially on the guys. So, why was the Wildcat's Head Cheerleader so bummed? She still hadn't a date to the dance! She had asked most of the basketball players and most of them already had dates.
She sighed and entered the gym to practice some cheer moves. Cordy was about to sit down to stretch when she noticed the gym wasn't vacant. She stared at Duke, wondering who he was... Cordy looked a bit confused but spoke, "Hello."

"Huh?" he said in mid knee kick. The ball flew up and Duke caught it before it fell to the floor, "Oh Hi." He smiled and walked toward her. Duke dropped the ball to his hip and rubbed his thin hair. Then he placed his hand in his pocket and smirked, "How much of that did you see?" He asked embarassed.

Cordelia smiled slightly and replied, "Enough," She stepped closer, "you've got some moves." She looked into his eyes, they were easy to get lost in. Cordy paused for an awkward amount of time. She shook her head and grinned, "I'm Cordelia."

"Um, I'm Duke, and thanks," he laughed again embarassed. He hated when he seemed really good, and hated when people saw him try moves out. Duke felt kind of uncomfertable with other people unless they were friends. He switched hands with the soccer ball and smilred uncomfertably to Cordelia.

"Duke..." She smiled, "So are you on the soccer team?" Cordy had never actually been to one of the East High soccer games. It was a rather new thing offered at the school there. Perhaps her team would be cheering at one of their games once they got used to the program.

Duke smiled a little less embarassed, "Yeah, you ever seen a game?" Duke said sitting on the bleechers. He stared at her smiling and thought that she must have been popular or something. Placing the ball between his legs he tossed it from foot to foot.

Cordelia shook her head, "No, actually I haven't." She watched him move the ball from foot to foot. "It really does look interesting though.." she said, siting down next to him. "I've been busy cheering at the basketball games but, maybe the squad could try something new...that is if the games aren't scheduled at the same time." She had just met Duke and was already starting to like him. He was nice, easy to talk to and into a sport.

Duke laughed a little and kicked the ball up into his hands, "I would love to see you at one of my games. But, I'm kinda new here so I don't even know when they are." He laughed again and sat the ball next to him. Then he placed his hands on his shorts that reach near his knees. He then straightened his white tang-top over his muscular torso and leaned back on the seats behind him.

Cordelia grinned, Duke seemed like a nice guy. She slid closer to him and leaned in closer. She then said in a slightly flirtatious voice, "Well, when you find out, inform me, and I'll make sure to be there." She then continued, "Have you heard about the dance coming up?"
((ack, the shortness!))

Duke looked at Cordelia and gulped nervously. "Well," he paused rubbing the back of his neck, "I'll tell you about that and I don't remember...." He jumped up as soon as he remebered, "Yeah that Sally Hopkins thing." Duke slid a little away from her. He hadn't been that confident with nice looking girls. Actually he was horrible at it! He couldn't talk to any girl without studdering. Yet, thank god, he didn't studder around Cordelia.

Cordy looked confused by his backing away from her but brushed it off. She grinned and looked down. She looked back at him, "It's the Sadie Hawkins dance." She continued to smile as she explained further, "It's where the girls ask the guys...it's coming up pretty soon." She wanted to ask him but for some reason she waited to see what his reaction would be.

He smirked then let it fade as he actually soaked in what she had said, "Sounds fun," he said in a nervous tone. Duke looked around the gym then returned his gaze to Cordelia. His smile returned and it made him look more nervous than ever. He wished he could stop looking so nervous so he coughed quickly and smiled normally.

Aw, he was nervous. Cordy really didn't think he had anything to be nervous about but, she still found it cute. She smiled and stood up. She walked over and stood in front of him, "So...do you want to go with me?" There really wasn't anything leading into it. She just asked!
