Jackie Montez had driven from Troy's party to the park. She didn't know where to go, she didn't have any hip parties to go to, and staying home wasn't an option. So, here she sat, on the swings. The light from the dissipating sun making her skin glow and her thoughtful eyes shimmer.

"Close your eyes and I'll kiss you, Tomorrow I'll miss you."
A voice sang out, a voice belonging to Maximum Summers. His version of this famed Beatles hit had a bit of an edge to it. It was his style, most of the songs he sang had this edge. Sure, he could blend but, when singing a solo, why not add your own personal style?
He was sitting on a nearby wall watching the sun go down. Max was waiting for his friend Jude so they could hang out for new year's eve. He invited his sister but she said that she wasn't sure if she could make it. So here he sat, waiting.
"But, remember I'll always be true. And then while I'm away, I'll write home everyday. And I'll send all my lovin', to you."

Jackie stopped swinging and looked up, surprised by what she was hearing. Was someone...singing? The song, as well as the singer, sounded familiar... She looked to her right and saw, sitting on the wall, some blonde kid...who was he? Jackie decided to check it out, she had nothing better to do, after all. Soon she stood behind him, her mind nagging at her that she knew him... "You have a great voice." She interupted. Then she saw who he was. Max, AKA, Scruffy Hobbo man. "Oh my gosh..." She groaned, making a face and looking away.

Max heard someone address him. A female someone, oh and she was impressed by his voice. He turned to see who it was, "Thank-" and it was Jackie!? "Aw, come on!" He said in an annoyed tone. He groaned and shook his head. Not her again. Why was she here? He stared at her then said, with an annoyed look on his face, "Did you get lost on your way to the mall?"

"Oh, haha, you're sooo funny, not." Jackie turned towards him, her arms now crossed. "Why are you here? Oh-let me guess, no one invited you to any parties, right?"
(Sorry it's short.)

Max shook his head with an amused grin on his face and looked away from her. He actually hadn't been invited to any parties but, he didn't want her to know that. He looked back at her, "Speak for yourself, you're here all by your lonesome as well." He turned back to the sunset, "I needed a break from all of the parties- looks like I'm not going to get any of that now!" he trow his hands up in the air.

"Uh-huh...you needed a break..." Jackie said with sarcasm. "Who was throwing these parties?" She called his bluff. Since Jackie had lived in town for almost a year she knew a lot of the kids. More than this newcomer, she figured.

Max turned to her, "Well, uh, there was, the one at Bobby's and the one at Matt's." He picked common names, hoping she would fall for it, or not question him any further. "Those were some pretty crazy parties."
(shortness, sorry -_-)

Jackie thought about this, there were a few Matt and Bobby's, she didn't know all of them well since one or two of them were deffinetly not int he same realm as Jackie. She figured these were his pals. With a shrug she accepted his fib for truth and leaned against the wall, her back to him. "Fine, whatevs." She muttered, looking at her newly manicured nails.

Max stared at the sun that was almost gone. He glanced at her, then back at the sky, then to her again. He was clearly annoyed by her being there. "Why are you still here?" He wanted her to leave him alone, sure he would be waiting by himself if she left but, that definitely would be better then having her here.

She had been leaning there watching the dimming light color the park orange and wondering what she should do that night and not believing she was bored enough to still be here with him when he snubbed her. "Well excuuuse me. Most boys are delighted to have my company, what's your deal?" She shouted at him, turning to face him with arms crossed and brow furrowed.

Max chuckled softly and turned to face her, "Well then most of the boy's you hang out with must be blind or deaf." Ouch! That was insulting. He find himself staring at he though and denying his own insult, she was rather pretty. He looked away, annoyed by this. She was way too annoying so, it would never work.

Jackie looked at him with fiery eyes and a curled lip. Who was he to judge, the scruffy loser. "You're one to talk. I don't see you being chased around by pretty girls, or girls at all. Y'know why?" She turned and leaned closer to him, face tilted up and glowing from the sunset and her growing smugness. "'Cause you're a lame, hygienically deficient, loudmouth. Oh yeah, I said it." Jackie smirked and turned back around, not leaving in her victory because she had no where to go but leaning back against the wall. If she couldn't go to a party then this wasn't so bad.

Max found this amusing, anyone would normally find what Jackie had said highly insulting but he just found it funny. He laughed a bit and then retorted, "Have you been taking drama lessons? Cause that was good." He had no clue about East High's insane drama department and the drama that took place with in it yet. He didn't even know who Sharpay Evans was yet. He was new but this would soon change.

Normal people would be unsulted, normal people would leave, but Max? Max was deffinetly abnormal and threw Jackie off by laughing at her! Laughing!!! It was infuriating not to be taken seriously, luckily Jackie didn't know how many people didn't take her seriously. Even her mother and sister put on an act to appease her, most of the time. Maybe she wouldn't care if she knew they were acting, as long as they did. Max was blunt, though, and his teasing shot through her like a bullet to the heart.
She looked at him with wide and fiery eyes, her mouth open from shock. "You did not just say that. I am a cheerleader, not some drama freak!" Jackie shouted, having had enough of him and leaving him on his wall. She wanted to push him off of it and gloat when he 'had a great fall', the egg head...but he wasn't worth it. What a jerk.
