The sun was shining brightly on this particular Saturday morning in Alberquerque. Troy Bolton left his house early morning, seeing that he couldnt sleep. So, he decided to go for a walk after his truck had broken down..again. It was on his list for things to do before college started up.
Right now, Troy was heading down Chads street as he hummed quietly to himself. He decided to go over and wake Chad up. Seemed like a good idea seeing as he couldnt sleep, why should Chad sleep in when Troy wasn't? A smirk formed on his face as he thought this, walking up the Danforths driveway.
Seeing no car in the driveway, he figured that Mr and Mrs Danforth had gone out, leaving Chad home alone. Perfect. Troy walked to the door and opened it, being good friends with the Danforths paid off..no need to knock. He may not be welcome as of right now, but like he cared. This was a suprise visit after all.
Making a beeline to the kitchen, he poured himself a glass of water before making his way to Chads room. He walked into the room, glass of water in hand as he took a quick sip. "Good Morning Sunshine" he sung loudly as he put the water down on the dresser, hoping to wake his best friend up in the process.

Chad slept peacefully on his bed. The blinds were closed, his door was shut, and his parents were out of the house. There was nothing to diminish his hopes of sleeping in. This was perhaps Chad's favorite thing about Saturdays. Besides the fact that he didn't need to think about homework or making it to class by the late bell. Still, sleeping in was held in much higher esteem than everything else.
He tossed over to lay on his back, contently lingering in a 'half-asleep, half-awake' state of being. Then he heard footsteps downstairs. His eyes flew open in confusion. He was now fully awake, much to his disliking. His parents couldn't be home already, could they? Chad heard the footsteps making their way up the stairs so he quickly shut his eyes again. The footsteps stopped right next to his bed, and Chad continued to fake being asleep. That's when a painfully familiar voice broke the silence by singing out, "Good morning, Sunshine!"
Chad winced as the loud voice disrupted his groggy state. He slowly opened his eyes again to see his best friend's face staring down at him. Troy Bolton. He grabbed the covers that he had shuffled down to his ankles in his sleep, and pulled them over his head like a five year old. "Nooo..." He mumbled through the sheets. "Didn't anyone ever tell you that it's rude to wake someone up this early on the weekend?"

Troy continued sipping the water he had bought upstairs with him, smirking as he saw Chad open his eyes. He shook his head as he watched him get the blankets and pull them over his head. "Dude, dont make me use the rest of this water" he threatend, taking a few more steps closer to the bed.
He shrugged at Chads question, "Since when do you use the word 'rude'" he teased. "Alright, time to wake up" he said, pulling the blankets away from Chads face. "Im serious about the water by the way" he said, holding the glass just above Chads head to prove his point.

Chad burrowed deeper under the covers, but Troy managed to swipe them off of him. He turned over immediately so that he was lying on his stomach, smothering his face in the pillow stubbornly. His eyes widened when he heard Troy's merely playful threat, but knew better than to assume he wouldn't act on it. When he looked up from the pillow again, he saw Troy holding the glass over his head tauntingly.
"Okay, okay, god!" Chad moved as far as he could to the other side of the bed, sitting upright at last. "I'm up!" Chad looked around the room tiredly. He squinted into the sunlight that peeked through his blinds. He crossed his arms across his chest childishly. Then he turned his attention back to his friend and narrowed his eyes at him. "Who let you in anyway?"

Troy chuckled at Chads childish antics, "Dude, im doing both nd your parents a favour" he said, "Wouldn't want them to come home to know there son is still in bed" he said, smirking.
He then moved away from the bed when Chad sat up, "And I didnt even have to use the water.." he mumbled, finishing said water off before setting the empty glass on the table next to him. "The door was un-locked" he told Chad, with a slight shrug. "Anyway, rise and shine! You have ten minutes to get up and ready" he said, turning to leave the room to give Chad some time

Chad rolled his eyes and laughed once. "Yeah, yeah, you're such a saint," he teased. He watched Troy finish his water, then hopped off his bed. He stretched his arms into the air and yawned. Chad was not a morning person. He was the kind of person who was completely fine with waking up in the afternoon and going to bed very late. He only got up early when he had to, but Chad rarely found an occasion that required him to get up this early on a Saturday.
"Ten!" Chad repeated incredulously when he heard Troy's command. For a guy, Chad took an unusually long time to get ready in the morning. He would always blame it on his wild hair. He slowly sauntered to his bathroom to start his daily morning routine. "That better not include breakfast time..." He mumbled on his way.

Troy shrugged inocently at Chad, watching him get off the bed. "Yes, ten minutes. Do you want me to spell it out for you?" He teased, smirking. He laughed at Chads mumble, "Nah, i'll be nice and give you an extra five for breakfast" He said, watching Chad head into the bathroom incase he decided to sneak back into bed when Troy wasnt in the room. "Ten minutes!" He reminded Chad before heading back downstairs to the kitchen, helping himself to some breakfast while he waited for Chad to come down.

Chad rolled his eyes at his friend as he heard his footsteps leaving down the stairs. He closed the bathroom door behind him as he faced his reflection in the mirror. His hair was a bit messier than normal, and his usually bright eyes were drooping; he was obviously tired. He figured a shower would help wake him up. Nothing like cold pellets of water drumming against your skin to make sure you are wide awake in the morning. He had to make it quick, though. Glancing down at his cell phone, he hastily checked the time. 7:14. Chad knew it wasn't a big deal whether or not he actually was ready in promptly ten minutes, but his internal and involuntary habit of taking up any challenge kept him hurrying.
After his shower, Chad brushed his teeth at a record-breaking speed and threw on the first articles of clothing he could find. He quickly made sure he didn't look like a complete mess before he decided to tackle the near impossible task that was drying his hair. Chad retreated back to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror again, comb in one hand, blow dryer in the other. He moved the blow dryer all around his massive clump of hair as he ran the comb through it all, letting it poof out where it wanted to. In a matter of minutes, it was just dry enough and looked exactly the same as it always did: outrageous. He checked the time on his cell phone once more before stuffing it in his jean pocket. 7:25. One minute late. Chad didn't give it much thought as he darted down the stairs.
He made his way into the kitchen where he found Troy sitting at the table, helping himself to some breakfast. It wasn't a rare sight to see at the Danforth household. Troy was practically family, which earned him the right to eat all the meals he wanted from their house. Chad opened the fridge and pulled out the milk, then grabbed a bowl from the cupboard. He took a seat across from Troy and flashed him a proud grin. "One minute off," he stated. "Not bad if I do say so myself!" He reached for the cereal box that was sitting in the middle of the table. "And you better be planning on sharing these Cheerios, man."

Troy waited for Chad downstairs, keeping an eye on the time as he ate his cereal. When he heard Chad come downstairs he turned toward him, as he just swallowed a mouthfull of cereal. "Your late" he smirked, pointing to his watch. "I'll let you off though, im going for seconds" he said, reaching for the Cherrio box once again as Chad fetched himself a bowl.
After pouring himself another round of cereal, he turned to Chad. "Nah, sorry dude. Your all out " he said, handing Chad the empty box anyway. "Theres another box though" he said with a slight shrug as he pointed to the cupboard just as Chad sat down. "Looks like your gonna have to move again" he said, eating some cereal with another slight smirk.

Chad's proud grin carefully changed to a smug one. "Wow, you're so generous today," he teased. He had just gotten situated in his seat when Troy announced there was no cereal left. Chad's eyes narrowed at his friend, but he got up anyway, uneagerly. He tossed the empty box into the trash can with perfect aim that could only be acquired by years of playing basketball.
"Geez, what a mooch," he continued with mock-annoyance as he retrieved the other box of cereal. He sat down again and pretended to make a big scene about how getting up again had inconvenienced him so much. "First you take my water, now my cereal!" Chad cracked a smile at the end of his small rant to let Troy know he was only joking. Then he began to devour his breakfast. "So why'd you get me up so early anyway?"

Troy chuckled, "Hey, its not my fault I had to walk here" he shrugged, blaming his old truck for his sudden hunger. Still eating his cereal, he watched Chad go back to the cupboard to get the new box of cereal. He shook his head lightly as he watched him throw the old box in the bin before going back to his own cereal.
He turned back to Chad once he sat back down and shrugged, "Technically, it was the taps water. Not yours" he teased, "I just borrowed a glass" he continued, putting some more cereal into his mouth. "And as for the cereal, thanks man" he smirked, patting Chad on the back as he got up and put his bowl and sthingy into the sink quickly before sitting back down in his seat. "Because I was bored at home seeing as I couldnt sleep, and I didnt want to wake up the parents only to have them grouchy all day, so you were my next bet" he shrugged with a grin.
"I figured that since we are both free today we can work on my truck, if you up for it" He told Chad, "Maybe go to the junkyard for some bits and pieces?" He contuined, looking at him.

Chad rolled his eyes as Troy gave him a pat on the back. "Yeah, yeah, you're welcome." He stuffed a large bite of cereal into his mouth and watched Troy return to his seat. When Troy finished his explaination as to why he had come over at such a god-awful hour, Chad swallowed. "Couldn't you have at least come over a little later? Maybe like, I don't know, noon? That's a more reasonable time for me."
Chad took another bite of cereal as he listened to Troy's proposed plans for the day. He laughed when the truck was mentioned. "Dude, that piece of junk still needs work?" He shook his head with a smile. Troy's truck had been their on-going project ever since the day Troy bought it. Of course it was the coolest thing in the world at first, but Chad started to like it less and less everytime it broke down and he and Troy had to push it all the way home. Despite that, Chad enjoyed spending hours working on it with his best friend. It was a fun alternative to basketball. Chad finished off his cereal, got up again, and placed it in the sink along with Troy's bowl. "Sounds good, man. Let's do it!"

After Troy returned to the seat he grinned at Chad, streaching a little. He then shrugged, letting his arms fall back to his side. "Nah, this was more suited for me" He said teasingly. "Gives us more time to work on the truck" he continued, adding another shrug.
"Hey, dont call her a piece of junk" he said, punching Chads arm lightly. "She's a piece of art, that just needs adjusting.." he explained. The truck was Troys first car, so of course he'd treat it well. Even if it did break down on the way to and from school 3 times, it was stil his and he was proud of it. "Great. Lets go then! Unless, you want to go fix your hair again" he said teasingly as he stood up.

Chad took Troy's playful punch with a grin, and gave him one right back. When Troy finished his comment about his truck, Chad gave a scoff. "Well, last time I checked, no one ever had to push a piece of art down the street!"
Chad had started moving toward the hallway when Troy joked about his hair. He froze in front of the small mirror on the wall and surveyed his hair for a moment. He sighed once and turned back to Troy. "Nah, I've kinda learned to just live with whatever it decides to do. Besides," Chad flashed him a cheeky smile. "the ladies love it!"

Troy looked at Chad once he punched him back and shook his head lightly with a grin. His face soon turned serious, "Thats what I meant about needing adjusting.." he said quietly, before heading to the front door.
He turned around to see Chad looking in the mirror, laughing at his comment about the ladies liking his hair. "Yeah, if you say so man" he said, turning back around and out the door.
