The hallway had students in it as it should for this morning hour. They were at their lockers getting books and such. Gossip filled the air and talk of the up coming dance. Max sighed and leaned against his locker. It had various large stickers on the front with record label pictures and sayings. Just whatever Max thought looked cool.
He was waiting for Jude, his pal. He wanted to know what's the buzz and just hang out. He also looked for his sister but she said she wasn't feeling great that day and might show up at a later hour.
Max took a cigarette out of his pocket and smirked as he looked around. He took out his lighter but then put the cigarette back. He didn't feel like getting caught right then. He flicked the lighter open and close.

Wearing a white t-shirt with a velvety and black mini jacket over top was Jackie Montez. On her legs were dark jeans, a stylish white-knit bag was slung over her arm, and she easily walked and texted at the same time. Her black heel's anounced her approach as she click clacked her way down the hall. That is, until someone ran into her. Then her clicking stopped and her phone fell to the floor, Jackie's dark brown eyes followed it, lips parted in surprise. Luckily it hadn't shattered.
"Omigosh, you're such a total moron!" She shouted, looking at whomever had disturbed her.

Poor Zooey, she had thought she was getting a cold this morning but it was just congestion. It had quickly gone away but still she was late to school. She had to catch a ride from one of her parents since her brother had already left. She had missed homeroom but that wasn't too much of a big deal. She just didn't like being late.
She was looking at her class schedule as she walked down the hallway, then BAM! She ran into something hard, she should have been looking where she was going. She felt like such a Crissy Snow (the blonde klutz on Three's Company) at that moment. She looked up and was about to say she was sorry when the person just yelled at her.
Zooey blinked in surprise, "Um," well, it couldn't hurt to still say it, "sorry." Hopefully that would help.

Jackie frowned down at Zooey, then she answered, "Oh, wait-you're sorry? Well, sorry doesn't pay for a new cell phone!" Bending down she picked up her cell, which was perfectly fine. "I mean, seriously, next time, look where you're going!"

Max heard some commotion and looked up. He saw his sister sitting on the floor in the hallway. Huh, so she had made it. Some chick was yelling at her and making a scene. Obviously she was the one that knocked his sister down. He put his lighter into his pocket and walked over to the scene.
"Hey!" Max said to the girl as he came over. He wasn't too happy with her. "Is there a problem here?" He stared at the girl. He looked down at Zooey who was getting her papers and offered her a hand up, "You alright?"

Zooey stared up at the girl who was barking at her for trying to break her cell phone. Yeah, that was Zooey's mission in life, to break peoples cell phones...um yeah right. She couldn't believe this girl. Zooey started picking up her stuff when she heard a familiar voice. Oh great, Max had come to the rescue.
She took his hand and stood up muttering, "Yeah, I'm fine." She glanced at her papers then stared back at Jackie as she stood next to her brother.

Jackie looked at the boy who had come to Zooey's rescue. She noted how attractive he was but he also looked quite scruffy. She only dated supermodel look-alikes who who rich enough to buy her what she wanted.
With obvious dislike she responded, "Yeah, I could've broken my phone thanks to your oblivious little friend here!" She gestured to Zooey, the pitch of her voice raising with irritation.

Max looked at her phone in her hand. It was perfectly fine, no scratches on it. He looked at her in disbelief, "But your phone didn't break, it's fine, there is nothing wrong with it." He continued and stepped forward a bit, "So I think it would be best if you would leave my sister alone." He then added, "That is unless you really do want a broken phone."

She saw his disbelief and didn't appreciate his attitude. When he said that there was nothing wrong with the phone she rolled her eyes at him. Max stepped forward and she looked at him with a face that read 'what are you doing, you hobbo?' "That is unless you really do want a broken phone." Jackie gasped at his threat. No one had threatenned her before! Well, no guys anyways. They always flirted with her and let her do what she wanted. "Excuse me? Was that a threat, scruffy?" She asked, stepping closer and standing on tip-toe so that she was closer to eyes level with him.

Max looked at her, his could feel his breath hitting her now that she was so close to him. He felt warm, she was a bit too close to him. "Maybe it was, nip/tuck girl." He said this as an insult referring to the fact that she looked too perfect and must have had plastic surgery. He tried to keep a straight face as she stood on her tippy toes to keep eye level with him. This was going a bit overboard for just a cell phone.

If not for all of her television culture his insult would have gone right over her head. Her jaw dropped and she retorted, "Well, being a nip/tuck girl is way better than being mistaken for a homeless man! I bet people offer you money all the time, and what's worse is that I bet you actually take it!" This conversation was taking a ridiculous turn but Jackie didn't notice. She was a stubborn little prima donna.

Max scoffed like she was being ridiculous, "Of course I would! What idiot would refuse free money?" He laughed. He was getting on her nerves, he liked it when he got on peoples nerves. "Hey and it's better they let me have the money then let you waste it on something that will make you look even worst when you age."

Zooey watched the fight unfold. Her brother had a short fuse and she knew this argument could go on forever. "Uh, Max, It's fine, let's just go." She said, stepping closer. She didn't want her brother to get in trouble on his first day.

Olive Klink walked down the hallway of her new work place. People would assume from her height that she was just another teenager. The thing that gave her away was the fact that she was far more developed then most of the students she passed. She turned the corner with a smile on her face, despited the many students that crowded the hallway.
The clutter of the halls was starting to clear when she came upon a fight in the middle of the hallway. Olive thought as the principle's assistant she should do something. She approached the group. "Excuse me." She recognized two of the students, "Zooey? Max?" She smiled, "I didn't know you two went here."

Jackie had no idea that plastic surgery made you look worse with age, so that one really did go over her head. The only thing Jackie knew of that made you less attractive with age was tatoos and she did not have one of those...besides, if she did it would beon her lower back so he wouldn't know about it anyways.
"Hello, I so do not have a tatoo, and if I did, you would be the last person to see it." She said with an angry hop which made her eye level with him for a split second. When she landed she turned to go, she liked having the last word and thought that the fight was plainly over. However, she was mistaken, because then the principle's new secretary interviened. Jackie turned back around to face her and sighed with annoyance. When she saw that the woman plainly knew...Max and zooey, she looked surprised and a bit paler. If the secretary picked favorites Jackie might have to go to detention..with the bad kids. She did not like that thought.
