Ryan was on the stage in the theater. Normally he would have been dancing or singing or acting but, today was not a day of leisure.. He knelled over a big banner that was laid out across the stage with a paintbrush in his hand. A can of red glitter paint was open next to him as he started to paint in the letters on the banner. He had been caught in the act of texting and now he was stuck in detention, painting banners for the up coming dance.
Miss Darbus looked on from student to student, watching their progress and speaking of the art of theater.
He really wasn't 'not' enjoying himself, he did get to spend time in the theater this way...of course he had to make sure not to get any paint on his clothes.
Ryan had had time to change into something more Broadway show-able before 6th period, since his sister and himself were going to see a show later that day. He wore a teal and white stripped sparklely button up long sleeved shirt with a white shirt underneath. He also wore black pants and a black belt with matching black shoes. Upon his head was a teal and black derby-hat to tie the whole outfit together. He had a pinstriped black jacket that went with the outfit but he had taken it off to paint. Setting on a chair in the audience. He now wore a most embarrassing white paint apron over this amazing outfit. It was a safety precaution he had to take.
His cell-phone buzzed again, oh! He had forgotten all about the phone message. Ryan looked around, making sure Darbus was busy before flipping it open and listening... It was a message from Gwen! She wanted to see him tonight...tonight! Of all of the nights! He had already agreed to see a show with Sharpay, how could he see Gwen at the same time?! Ryan bit his lip and flipped his phone close, putting it into his pocket. Great, what could he do now!
He had to call her back, when Darbus was distacted...
Darbus had spotted him, "Wonderful work Ryan!, your painting skills are almost as wonderful as your stage presence. Which reminds me of when..."
She began to talk about the theater while Ryan somewhat listened while also trying to think of a way to call Gwen back.

History:
Ryan Evans was born on March 1st along with his twin sister, Sharpay Evans. He was born eight minutes after his sister ((in the HSM stage version this fact is made known)), making him the younger brother as she often likes to bring up.
Their father has always been a wealthy tycoon type and their mother, one who would marry that type. Their father isn't home often...he is away a lot on business. Their mother works as a yoga instructor and she isn't around much ether. The Evans' were mostly raised by nannies but their parents still cared for them when they could. They live in a large house in Albuquerque, NM. ((Sorry to include Sharpay in this but, it would be hard not to))
Even at an early age, Ryan showed signs of having dramatic flair. He and his sister would put on play dress-up, and then put on plays for their parents, singing and dancing and hamming it up. In fact, Ryan and his sister did nearly everything together. She became his best friend, and really his only good friend. Their lives progressed and they began to take voice lessons, dance lessons, and acting lessons. As toddlers he earned roles in their theater company, and then in Middle School. This fame only grew once he reached high school and he got the lead for each play they put on...along with his sister, of course. This remained true except for the last winter musical, 'Twinkle Towne' in which Troy Bolton; a basket ball player that his sister adored, and Gabriella Montez; the new girl brainiac, beat them out for.
His sister wasn't very happy about this, nor was he, not as much as her but he definitely wasn't thrilled.
That summer the twins went away to their parents country club. Ryan and his sister were thinking up a routine for the talent show to win, once again, the club's Star Dazzle award.
Sharpay still wanted Troy and had a plan to hire him to work at the club so he would fall for her. This plan was foiled unknowingly by Troy Bolton himself. Troy invited all of his friends to work at the club for the summer and this ruined the drama queen's plans.
Ryan was told to keep an eye on them and make sure they didn't mess with their show. He obeyed but then Troy and his sister started to get close and he was soon sold out for Troy! Sharpay decided to do the show with him. Poor Ryan was left to spy on the wildcats and not be in the show. He begrudgingly accepted his fate for the time being...
Soon Gabriella Montez and Taylor McKessie invited him to come to their baseball game. He agreed and got into a game against Chad Danforth who didn't think dancing was a sport. Ryan lost the baseball game but proved Chad wrong about dancing. He was finally accepted by the Wildcats. After the game he stayed and ate dinner with them and dessert. (("Her mom makes the best brownies." ^^))
He found that they were really nice, and he taught them some dance moves the next day. He also found that Gabriella Montez was very nice...and rather pretty. Ryan developed a slight crush on her despite the fact that she already had a boy friend. Sharpay found out about Ryan helping the wildcats and wasn't very happy.
She made it so that the employees couldn't be in the show. Ryan found a way around this and with the help of Kelsi, tricked Sharpay at the last minute. Troy and Gabriella got to sing with each other and all of the Wildcats as well. Sharpay realized what her brother had done was a good thing, letting everyone have a chance, and awarded him with his very own 'Star Dazzle' award.
The Evans don't change so easly... Ryan still had his dream of becoming a Broadway star but he was a little weary of his sister after that summer. They were still best friends and things seemed to be mended. They looked out for each other.
The year started out interestingly enough after that summer. His sister wanted to go to the dance with Troy and so she asked him. He's not sure what Troy said but Shar said that it was a yes. Then Troy came over and broke his sister's heart! He was not happy about this and still isn't very happy with Troy.
The Evans cousin came over for a visit and Ryan took her skating. It was at the skating rink where Ryan met a very nice girl, Gwen Stacy. His sister doesn't like Gwen very much but, Ryan does. He doesn't think of them more then friends, he doesn't even know he has a crush on her but, sooner or later that might change.
Then Ryan kinda hung out with Gabby and Taylor a bit more. A bit too much in Chad's mind as Ryan found out. Poor Ryan had bought Taylor a gift, just because and Chad caught him outside the mall, with this gift. Chad beat up Ryan and ruined one of his hats as Troy just stood by and didn't help ether side.
Ryan had to spend a week out of school before they said he could come back. It was pretty boring, except that his friend, Gwen came over to keep him company.
Now Ryan Evans is back in the game and ready to get his life back to normal. He isn't on good terms with Chad or Troy but, supposedly his sister has plans for them. We shall see what happens as the rest of the story unfolds.
Other:
The only sports he seems to enjoy are baseball, golf and tennis.
He is an amazing dancer and designs most of the choreography for him and his sister.
Ryan is a bit of an airhead and he seems to have a learning disability as seen in the movie and in the books.
He is totally loyal to his sister...most of the time.
