Song wandered into the gym. He looked around at the red-seated stands, wondering what it would be like if it were full of people, and he was watching from centre court. The sound, and the massive cries. The ultimate crowd- Sharpay would probably faint of happiness.
The class before had left soccer ball lying all over the place. He picked one up gingerly. Ah... when was the last time he'd touched one of these? Oh yeah, when he got hit by one in the head last week. It wasn't his fault that he couldn't play soccer. Or any sport for that matter. Martial arts didn't count, because... well, it wasn't really a sport. It was more of a... lifestyle maintenance... thing.
He flicked the ball up, and then followed it into the air. Swinging one foot over it, he brought his other leg smashing into the side, and it flew over to the other end of the stadium, missing the goal he had been aiming for. He dropped back onto his feet and sighed dejectedly. Yeah. He had absolutely NO game.

Troy walked into the gym, coming from the locker rooms where he had just changed into his basketball gear. He had his basketball bag with him; which contained a drink bottle, a towel, and other essitenal things that he may need. He saw that there were no basketballs lying around like there usually were, so went back into the locker rooms to get one.
He came out minutes later, softly humming to himself. Not noticing the visitor to the gym just yet. He walked over to the nearest hoop and started dribbling the ball. He stood at the top of the key and ran, doing a layup. He smiled at himself as caught the ball as it came back down and started dribbling back to the key.
Upon hearing another ball, Troy looked up and saw a boy he hadnt seen before. Although, he looked about Troys age. He shrugged a little before making his way over to him. "Soccer's not you game huh?" He asked, as he approched him.

Song turned around, seeing a boy in basketball gear- Wildcat red. Aw, man... was it going to be another one of those jocks? He'd been having an okay day too... ah well, hopefully he wouldn't have to switch the conversation into anti-jock mode... maybe he could even avoid a fight this time. He'd had to see the principal before for throwing a soccer jock into a goal- probably one of the only times he'd managed to throw something on target.
'Well, I don't really have any game,' he smiled, shrugging. 'Never was any good at proper sports... but hey, who'd really expect a music geek to be good at anything like hoops, right?'

Troy looked at the boy and nodded as he spoke, spinning the basketball casually on his finger. "That would explain why your in the gym then" He joked, smirking as he caught the ball and rested it on his hip gently. "Your a music dude?" Troy asked, moving closer to the boy as he dribbled the basketball. "I'm Troy" He said, intoducing himself as he extened his hand.

Song gave a small smile despite himself. Maybe this guy wasn't as bad as the other jocks after all. But when he said his name, his eyebrows rose and his smile widened. Troy... so this was him? The all-famous Troy who was the inspiration for one of the most unique voices he had heard?
He gladly took the offered hand, and shook it. 'Yeah, good to meet you,' he said. 'Name's Song. Music guy,' he added with a mischievous grin, before flicking the ball underneath Troy's arm, running past him to catch it. He tossed it higher into the air, and flying too wide, had to twist around his body to balance the ball on one foot. He gave a sigh of relief and looked back at Troy with the same impish smile.
'But music guys can do other stuff in their free time, too, right?'

"You too" Troy said, shaking his hand. He nodded when Song mentioned his name, smiling. He then rasied an eyebrow once Song tipped the ball from underneath Troys arm, Troy quickly turned around and watched Song. He chuckled at Song's actions and smirked, "Deffinatley" he said. Troy soon figured that Song was new to East High considering Troy hadn't seen him around before "So, you must be new?" he asked

Song clipped the ball with his heel back into the air, and with a bit of rather uncool floundering, caught the ball.
'Actually, I've been here since freshman year,' he said with a grin. 'But I don't think I ever actually met you before. Weird, right? I'd have thought that I'd see you since you were so popular, but hey- never got round to it.'
'But then again... why would a guy like you know about a person like me, right?'
He laughed again, but it was half-hearted. Why did he feel like this? Was it like his job in this school to carry around this aura of 'What is your purpose? You have no purpose!'?

Troy watched Song catch the ball from flicking it with his foot. He nodded impressed, "I thought you said you dont have game" he smirked.
Troy nodded once Song mentioned he'd been here since Freshman year, he chuckled a bit at his statement. "Hey, well, here we are now" he shrugged. "I wouldve thought we'd bump into eachother with the spring musical and all.." he said, "But, guess not" Troy continued, shrugging.

He laughed. 'Yeah, I'd have thought so too. But at that time I was away at a martial tournament out of school, so I missed it. And-'
He tossed the ball at Troy, but it flew away way too far and went completely into orbit. '- I honestly have absolutely no game. That part you can count on.'

Troy nodded, listening to Song speak about why he missed the musical. He soon saw that Song was about to pass the ball back to him, he put his hands out to cach it but eneded up turning 90 degrees, to see the ball fly past him.
Troy then laughed at Songs next comment as he ran up to get the ball that was rolling away. "These things take time" he said, smirking a bit. "It took me a ages to shoot a layup" He said, shrugging casually as if it was nothing.

'Yeah well... if I'd started earlier, when I had more time, then yeah, maybe.'
He shoved his hands into his pockets. 'Must be cool, being able to play a sport with a team, where all you have to do is chuck a ball around, instead of having to beat people up for points.'
It wasn't that he didn't mind- it was a great sport. But he wished sometimes that he could try winning and losing as part of a team rather than a solo achievement.
'So... you're the guy with Ella, right?' He gave a mischievous grin. 'How're things going between you two?'

Troy nodded, spinning the ball on his finger once again making his way over to Song more. He looked up at Song and nodded, grinning as he talked about being on a team. He chuckled, "Yeah, but it has its ups and downs" he said, frowning a little. Basketball has always been a big part of Troy's life, but after meeting Gabriella at New Years, he's found another intrest within the Chapel of the Arts - as Ms Darbus would say.
He turned his attention back to Song once he mentioned Gabriella, he rasied an eyebrow once again as to why Song was calling her Ella. Not even Troy calls her that, its either Gabs or Gabby. He shrugged it off for the time being and nodded, "Yeah" He said, moving the ball to his hip as he did before. "Uh..everythings fine" he shrugged, "Why do you ask?"

'Just curious,' he said. He looked up at the ceiling, and gave a sigh.
Gabriella's voice had become the way it was because of this teenager with the basketball... at first glance, he wasn't much in the eyes of a person who thought little of good looks and skin-deep popularity. But Song could see a little of the person who he'd heard- a person who made plenty of mistakes, was still unsure of himself, and still involuntarily playing the 'cool guy'. But on the other hand, he was genuinely a good guy, and didn't seem that bother with the status quo as he would expect most jocks to do. He was just a little... unaware, that was all.
Then he got an idea- it was strange, but it could work.
'Throw the ball at me. Let's try playing some hoops.'

Troy nodded, still wondering as to why Song called Gabriella 'Ella' and why he wanted to know about their relationship. He shrugged it off for the time being and passed the ball to Song when he asked for it. "You sure you want to do that?" He teased, "You said it yourself, you dont have any game" he smirked.

He wagged a finger at him with a smile. 'Thou shalt not understimate a music geek who has no game,' he said mischievously. 'And we won't be playing normal hoops- since I'm going up against East High's basketball king, I'm going to shift the rules around a bit- you can do anything you want to defend your hoop and score against your opponent's hoop, apart from to hurt each other.'
'Less rules, new game. Up for a few rounds of 'No Game Basketball'?' he said with an impish grin.
