The door opened and she saw a flash of Ryan before joyously hugging him and shouting, "Ryan!" When Gwen actually pulled away and looked at him her smile faded. "Oh, Ryan!" She repeated, her tone soft and her face completely changed. Gwen's hand automatically flew to cover her gaping mouth as she took a soft step back to get the full effect. He looked awful and...nervous? She'd never seen her star nervous before..well, he wasn't 'hers' but they were friends and friends didn't let friends be pulverized...or something like that.
"Ryan! She cooed, pouting and dropping her bag at her feet. "What'd they do to you..?" Then she was hugging him again, and blinking back her tears over his shoulder, hoping she wouldn't 'drip' on him. That would make him feel better for sure!

Ryan winced in pain as she joyously hugged him. His broken rib not enjoying the bubbly blonde's response. Then she took a moment to actually look at him and the look on her face changed to that of shock and pity. He felt upset when she looked at him that way. He didn't want to be seen like this. Now he knew why the Phantom wore a mask.
She hugged him again, he was upset but his heart softened slightly because this was Gwen and she really did care about him. Ryan winced in pain again at the hug, "Not so tight." He sighed, he was happy for the company even though it was awkward. Ryan got out of the hug and replied, "They said it will heal soon." He noticed her tears, "It's ok, Gwen, I'm ok." he wiped one away with his hand. He felt the butterflies in his stomach again, he broke the moment though with a thought. "Well, since you came all the way here I might as well show you around." he smiled slightly.

He felt tense under her hug and that only made her want to squeeze him harder, but she knew she couldn't do that. Still, it was hard to resist, since she'd grown up accustomed to hugging the tensity out of her dad until he hugged her back. He was sort of like an icicle; tough, cold, but if you held onto it, and layered your warmth on it, it would eventually melt. Ryan wasn't an icicle, though. So, she softened the hug instead, backing away when he removed her.
"It's okay, Gwen, I'm okay."
It was just like him to comfort her when he was so obviously in pain. Gwen sniffed, trying not to pout, even though her lips trembled and kept pulling her mouth down. She knew Ryan needed some sunshine in his life right now and not more worry; her mom had taught her a lot about boys and their need for respect and strength. Still, she so wanted to burst into tears and take care of him. It was her instinct to comfort and right now she didn't know how and hated resisting this inclination, which only added to the burning tears behind her eyes.
His warm gesture of wiping away her tear seemed to do the trick. Her sniffling stopped and she attempted a smile. Said 'attempted smile' grew into a full-out grin and giggle when he offered her a tour of the house. Their house was so beautiful on the outside she was sure the inside would match, but had forgotten to look when Ryan's appearance had distracted her. As she nodded vigorously she took her chance to look around, and she wasn't disappointed. Yet, everything paled in comparison to Ryan's warmth, and as her eyes returned to his she smiled gratefully. What would she do without him? He seemed to be the only true friend she had so far, and, in all honesty, the best friend she'd ever had. Gwen felt a glow of happiness and pride, she had definitely done the right thing in skipping school to see Ryan.

Ryan was happy to see her concern leave. He really was happy to have company despite the embarrassment of the situation. He led her inside the entryway which had a grand stair case and halls that went off into rooms. The first room was the Living room where Ryan had been hanging out. It had two couches, one full and one half couch "L" cornered together. They faced a large flat screen tv. This room connected to the kitchen which was very state of the art and modern looking. "This is the Living Room. Oh, and the kitchen." He said with a spread of his hand. "Would you like something to drink?" He offered turning to her.

Gwen walked through the house in amazement. It's outside had been beautiful but it really did prove that 'what was on the inside was what mattered'. nothing was done in halves and the luxary and richness of its furnishings and architexture, once really appraised, were almost too glamorous! Her mouth hung open and she reached out to touch the Italien leather sofa when Ryan spoke. Gwen had truthfully forgotten he was there and spun with such shock that she lost balence and tumbled head and back first onto the couch. Her legs flipped up and now rested over the armchair as she struggled to right herself. "No thanks!" Came her strangled response.
