Love was in the air at East High on the chilly winter's day that ended the week. It was a Friday, and not just any Friday, it was the Friday before Valentines weekend. Valentines Day fell on the Sunday this year, but this didn't stop girls gushing to each other what plans they had, or with whom the plans were with. The guys of the school, didn't show there interest, however some were walking around with a slight smirk as they caught sight of there Valentine, somehow pleased with the arrangements they had made for the coming holiday.
Troy rolled his eyes as he saw another couple greet each other with a hug after the boy had presented the girl with a long stemmed red rose. He shook his head, dialing his locker combination before pulling out a bunch of red roses and some chocolates. Yes, Troy Bolton went one step ahead than anyone. And no-one expected anything less from him, well...maybe apart from Gabriella. He was always being teased by his team-mates by being whipped, and now..with roses and chocolates in his hand, he couldn't agree more. He smiled slightly to himself before closing his locker, making his way to homeroom.
The school was covered in red and white - yes, they we're school colors so nothing much had changed, but pink had also come into the equation. Hearts we're decorating the walls, and helium balloons were floating everywhere. Troy shook his head, seeing a huge pink heart with a arrow on the homeroom door, I think the school went a little too over board this year.
Looking around the homeroom as he entered, he noticed he was the first one of his friends to arrive. perfect he thought to himself as he saw Gabriella's desk was empty. Not even Darbus was in the room, which was a good sign because he didn't need reminding of how whipped he was by a teacher as well. Tiptoeing past some early comers, he placed the roses and heart-shaped box of chocolates on Gabriella's desk. Placing a card in the middle which he quickly wrote out this morning at home, while also avoiding Liz - since she too was another teaser when it came to his relationship with Gabriella.
The card was simple. It was a red card with a white heart he had purchased after school yesterday, and it went perfectly with the chocolates. Her name was scrawled on the front, and inside was his message:
Roses are Red Violets are Blue Come to the rooftop at lunch I have something for you
Your Valentine xoxo
He smiled slightly, looking up as he heard more people enter homeroom. He hoped that none of his friends found out about the poem, he knew it was cheesy but it was the best he could do in so little time. From the amount of people now flooding into the class it meant the bell was soon to go off, he quickly passed the people around the room and took his seat, waiting for his friends to arrive.

Liz Bolton headed down the halls of East High with a smile on her face. Love was in the air. The school was covered with hearts , everyone was happy. Liz loved this time of year. Even though Valentine's day was on a Sunday , that didn't stop people at the school from celebrating and showing their love to each other. Liz saw couples all over greeting each other with simple tokens of affection. She smiled , hoping something like that was gonna happen with her today. Liz wore her red sweat pants today and her red sweat jacket in honor of the holiday. Looking around at the decorations , she decided the decorating committee went a little over board this year.
Liz headed to her locker and put some of her books into her bag , grabbing a bunch of valentine's that she made for her fellow Wildcat's. She was a very crafty and creative person when it came to being sentimental. Liz loved making homemade card's ever since she was a little girl. She grabbed her red headband , putting it on and shutting her locker , heading to Darbus's homeroom.
Liz didn't see her brother at all this morning yet. She wondered if he was avoiding her. Probably. He was probably working on his Valentine's day thing for Gabriella. Aw that's so cute! Liz headed into homeroom and saw her brother sitting at his desk , she took her seat near him. She had a valentine for him but wasn't sure when she should give it to him.
When Liz was a little girl in 1st grade , she asked one of the guys in her class to be her valentine. She even gave him candy with the valentine too. The boy ate all the candy and gave her back the valentine saying no. Looking back at that , Liz sighed and put on a smile. " Morning Bro."

{ PULL ME CLOSER TO LOVE , }when all the buildings fall and all of the stars fade , - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Valentines Day... The time of the year that love, teddy bears, hearts and everything that has to do with it filled the shops, the schools, the streets, everywhere... Every 14th of February love seemed to go overboard... Gabriella usually was one of the people to think that you don't need a certain day to celebrate your love for someone... You have every minute of every day to prove to your loved one that you love them and care and not just a specific day of the year... But then again... The whole thing pulled you in and you couldn't help it but go along with everyone else... It was sweet to see everyone expressing their love so openly after all... And lets face it... There were people that expressing their feelings wasn't their strong point, so that specific day gave them that opportunity. The opportunity to break out from their shell and proclaim their love to the other half... For that only the holiday was worth celebrating it... And for the second time in her life Gabriella got to celebrate it as well... Yes, this was her second time to actually be a part of a couple in Valentine's Day, which wasn't that much of a surprise since with the constant moving from place to place because of her mother's job, she never really got the chance to make friends or have a love interest in someone. Of course all that changed since she moved to Albuquerque, and she met Troy... Now not only she had amazing friends, but, dare to say it? Another half...
That morning she woke up and did her usual ritual... Showered, washed her face, brushed her teeth, combed her hair, got dressed, had breakfast and went to the bus stop to get the bus in order to go to school... Love was all around that day though... In the street you could see couples greeting each other happily, in the bus people couldn't stand the anticipation of getting to school, so they exchanged their gifts, and kisses, in the vehicle... Even East High looked different today, since Valentine's Day decorations have been added to the usual wildcats banners... You could see red and pink hearts everywhere in the corridors and on the bulletin boards, and the excitement, mainly from the girls, was evident all around since everyone's subject was what they had planned for the special day, which was Sunday. How can you help and not smile when you see this?
After a brief stop to her locker to get her books, Gabriella proceeded to her classroom, and the school bell met her half way as she made her way to the homeroom. After waiting for the people that were crowding the entrance of the classroom to walk inside, Gabriella got in and moved to her desk at the back, when she noticed something on it which made her smile... A bouquet of beautiful red roses and a heart shaped box which she assumed were chocolates with a card. Gabriella sat down and after hanging her purse on the back of her chair, she opened the card and read what was written inside
Roses are Red Violets are Blue Come to the rooftop at lunch I have something for you
Your Valentine xoxo
Gabriella let out a small giggle before she turned to see Troy with a smile. He had something for her? What more could he have than the flowers and chocolates? She shrugged her shoulders but feeling a bit bad since she had left her gift at home because she thought she was supposed to give his gift to him the actual Valentine's Day, on Sunday. She bit her lip before she smell the roses and then took the chocolates and carefully put them in her purse...

After arranging the flowers and chocolates on Gabriella's table, Troy moved back to his seat at the front of the class and started playing the waiting game. He noticed that the class was getting more full of students, meaning the bell was soon to go off. He turned his head at the sound of a familer voice and smiled, "Hey Liz" he said with a slight nod of his head in greeting to his younger sibling.
"Sorry I couldnt give you a ride in today, I uh...needed to...hand in some homework" he said, scratching the back of his head nervously, meaning it was a slight lie. It wasnt exactly 'homework' more like, last minute arrangments for the day ahead. He knew Liz wouldn't buy it, but there was nothing worse than being ribbed on during school time. Or any time, in that matter.
He then turned his attention to the front of the room, checking the time quickly. This wasn't Troy and Gabriella's first Valentines day together, but last year they had only just met, so it was slighty akward. But now..it was anything but. He was still nervous of what Gabriella's reaction to his public display would be like. Especially with certain people around.
Then, he saw her. She walked into the room and went to take a seat at her desk and he couldnt help but smirk slightly at what her reaction may be. He looked behind him when he knew she would be examining the card and smiled hearing her soft giggle from where he was sitting. He felt her gaze and met her eyes, returning the smile before sending her a quick wink, he suddenly couldn't wait for lunch.

When her brother apologized for not giving her a ride to school this morning , she smiled. Noting that he was rubbing his neck which was a sign of nervousness. He was lying most definitely. But Liz wasn't gonna call him out on it. She would let it go like the good little sister she was. " Aw no problem T. Hope you got your homework done. " Liz said with a wink.
Liz saw Gabriella enter the room and head to the back to her seat. She looked over at Troy and he looked a little anxious in his chair. Then she heard Gabriella's soft giggle and figured she saw Troy's surprise. Liz was glad her brother had finally found someone to celebrate Valentine's day with. She then went in her tote bag looking for her cards. There was a bunch of cards in there for her brother , Gabriella , Chad and other fellow wildcat's. She had worked really hard on the card's.
She didn't know if her brother would be around during lunch so she might as well give him his card now. She got out his card which had a basketball on it and a heart in glitter that said Big Brother. Then inside the card she wrote all the thing's that made her brother amazing. Liz tapped him on the back and handed him his card. " Here bro. Happy Valentine's Day!" Liz said blushing sheepishly and shrugging her shoulders.

Ah, Valentine's Day, the day created by card companies to make money or by angry girlfriends who wanted another reason to yell at their boyfriend for forgetting a holiday. Ether way, it was that time of year again. Xander didn't really have an official girl friend. Many friends that were girls but not a girl in which he dated. He had a girl that he crushed on but, after the incident with his dad (now the Principle), those dreams of him dating her seemed to be flying out the window. Xander had a crush on Sharpay Evans. Nobody knew this of course because there was no way he would ever tell anyone! He kept it on the down low.
He of course had a plan for Valentine's Day. He had bought a bouquet of red roses and planned on giving one rose to each girl in homeroom. This wouldn't seem weird as he was friends with all of them. The guys were also his friends and wouldn't see this as a threat ether. Plus, he could give Sharpay a flower without it seeming weird.
Xander entered homeroom with a smirk on his face. "Heelloo ladies." He walked over to Liz and give her a single rose, "A beautiful rose for a beautiful girl, Happy Valentine's Day Liz."
He then gave one to Gabriella, "A little something for the lovely lady." He looked at Troy, He shrugged, "Sorry dude, I don't think a rose would match your ensemble. Only the lovely ladies get a flower...and your not ether." He smirked, "Just saying!"

Troy saw Liz's smirk and shook his head, knowing she knew that he wasn't really doing homework this morning when he came into school early. "Dad didn't suspect anything did he?" he asked her quietly, "Wouldn't want a lecture during free period workout" he said with a slight chuckle, before his eyebrows scrunched together.l "Or at all" he added quickly as an after thought as he turned back to the card Liz had created.
He then saw Liz pull out something, offering it to him before she wished him a happy Valentines Day. "Aw Liz, you shouldn't have!" he said with a slight smirk as he took the card from her to inspect it. "Wow, this is actually kinda cool" he said, turning back to look at her. "I uh...didn't get you anything" he continued, sheepishly. "But give me 'till after school, I'll get you some chocolate or something on the way home" he smiled.
He the raised an eyebrow as he saw a rose being presented in front of Liz. He looked up and saw Xander with a bunch of roses, "Or you could consider that as your gift from me" he joked, smirking at Xander as he made his way over to Gabriella. Troy watched his every step, making sure he didn't step on any toes on the way, before realizing his rose-giving was just a friendly gesture for all the girls in the class. He looked at Xander as he spoke his name and laughed, "No worries man, Red's not really my color" he joked knowing that wasn't true. The schools color's were red and white after all.

As Troy asked Liz if Dad suspected anything thing , she shook her head. Coach Bolton had no idea what so ever. He was too wrapped up in whatever basketball drill he happened to be working up at the moment. Liz knew what Troy meant about the lecture's especially during basketball practice. " Don't worry T...he doesn't suspect a thing."
When Troy started looking at the valentine and exclaiming she shouldn't have , Liz shrugged her shoulders. " I wanted to though." Then he said that the card was cool , she grinned. She had worked really hard on all her home made card's and was glad Troy liked his. Then when Troy said he didn't get her anything , Liz tried to hide that she was upset. Liz understood though. Troy had Gabriella and girlfriend's come before sisters." Oh no big deal Troy..it's fine." She said shrugging her shoulder's. When he said he would make it up to her , she nodded her head and was sure her brother would keep his promise.
Liz smiled when she saw Xander walk in with a bunch of roses. Awww! I wonder who they are for. Then all of a sudden ... she noticed him over her desk handing her a rose. She smiled at his compliment. " Aw thank you Xander! Happy Valentine's Day to you too!" She took the rose and smelt it. It smelt good. Liz laughed at Troy's idea that the flower from Xander would be his gift to Liz. Silly , silly brother. When Xander headed over to Gabriella , Liz realized his idea to give every girl in the class a rose. How sweet of him! She then laughed as Xander joked around with Troy.

{ PULL ME CLOSER TO LOVE , }when all the buildings fall and all of the stars fade , - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Gabriella could easily recall their first Valentine's Day together, exactly a year ago. Even the memory made her wanting to laugh. It was just so... awkward! Another failed attempt for a first kiss... Which let's say that made the things even more awkward! Guess the whole romantic atmosphere seemed the perfect setting but once again luck was against them. And yeah... That's how her first Valentine's Day went... But in a weird reason, she was glad it didn't happen then, because when it did happen it was beautiful and something she would sure remember... She looked down at the beautiful flowers, the card and the chocolates and she smiled. It must have taken a lot of courage for Troy to do that, especially since she knew that if Chad or his other friends saw there would be some unending teasing coming his way, so she appreciated the gesture even more.
Gabriella felt eyes on her and she looked up to see Troy looking at her from his seat, obviously interested to see her reaction at his gifts and she flashed him her sweetest smile, mouthing a thank you. She didn't want to go show him how much she appreciated his gesture in front of the whole class, since people already started filling the classroom, because well... She didn't want to cause more comments and teasing... Plus he was in a conversation with his sister and she didn't want to be rude and interrupt... Family always came first after all... She should know... She was saving it for lunch though...
Gabriella watched as Xander approached her and handed her a single red rose and she smiled at him Awww! Thank you! That's so sweet of you! Happy Valentine's Day! she said the wide smile still on her smile. Well apparently love was in the air, and Valentine's day had affected everyone, even if it was two days away!

The ladies liked the flowers! His mom generally liked to receive roses so, he figured it would be the way to go. Xander was glad they liked them. After all, they were his friends and he enjoyed making them smile. He hoped the rose might help to smooth things out between him and Sharpay. He set his bouquet down on a desk and turned back to Troy. Xander grinned and replied to his comment about the color, "And yet, they still make you wear it for the team. The sacrifices you make, wow." He of course was being sarcastic, something of a trait he had received from his dad. "Soo, any Valentine's day plans?" He looked between Gabriella and Troy, knowing the couple had to have something planned.

Troy breathed a sigh of relief when Liz told him Coach Bolton didn't suspect anything about why Troy left home so early this morning. "Okay, good" he said with a nod. Turning back to the card in his hands Liz had given to him earlier. He looked up when Liz started to talk once again and shrugged, "No, you got me something. Its only fair I return the gesture" he said with a smile. He hated the fact Liz went through all the trouble to make him a card, so the least he could do was pick up some chocolate on the way home from school.
He soon turned back to Gabriella and gave her a simple shrug and smile when she mouthed a thank you to him. He needed to make up for the crappy valentines they had last year...thanks to Chad and his terrific timing, he once again ruined the perfect moment for a first kiss. He thought back to the recent summer vacation they had at Lava Springs, on the golf course after the talent show. It was the perfect ending to a not-so-perfect summer. Smiling at the memory, he was bought out of memory lane when Gabriella thanked Xander for the rose, he shook his head slightly watching the scene before him, still keeping a smile on his face.
Troy turned back to the front of the class quickly to check the time on the large wall clock before turning back to Xander when he spoke. He laughed at his comment and shrugged, "Gotta obey the rules, don't wanna get kicked off the team" he smirked, knowing he'd only get kicked off the team when pigs learn to fly. He was captain, dad was coach...who could kick him off? He shook his head slightly when he thought about this, knowing it wasn't entirely true.
He soon turned in chair slightly, facing Xander more as they continued the conversation - his neck was beginning to strain, and this was much easier than having to look at each person as they spoke. This way, he could talk to Xander, Gabriella and Liz at the same time. He shrugged at Xander's question, trying to hide the smile that was forming on his face. "Don't know, and even if there were plans..it's a secret so can't tell you" he answered, only he wasn't looking at Xander..he was looking at Gabriella.

Liz thought it was funny how her brother was being so cautious about Dad finding out. She didn't blame him though. When Troy started protesting again that he was gonna get her something , Liz sighed. " You really don't have to Troy , it's fine. I understand. Little sister's aren't top priorities any more." After Liz said that , she kind of regretted the last comment. It was mean of her.
She noticed Gabriella mouth Troy a thank you. And then Troy went off into daze lane. Probably thinking about Gabriella. Then when Troy and Xander kidded around about Troy getting kicked off the time. Liz laughed as if. Dad's the coach. Troy would never be kicked off the team. When Xander started to get noisy or questionable. Liz laughed. He's taking my job! She saw Troy and Gabriella exchange one of their looks. " Yeah I don't think were not gonna find out." Liz said with a little shrug.
