Ned was in the kitchen as usual. Preparing his pies for the students later. He was then sitting on a stool, trying to figure out if he should made some fruit pies today or some normal pies with sweetness, some sort of like having creme brulee in it or something. He pondered hard but soon he decided to go with the fruit pies as he was not so sure about the creme brulee part. He sighed and got up, placing his apron around his front body and smiled slightly, getting ready. A few moments later, while he was busy making his pies, someone entered without Ned noticing...

She had left her lunch in the refrigerator. This was Olive's reasoning behind going to the lunch room now and into the kitchen.
Her boss, Principal Michael had informed the blonde that he was going to start keeping a mini fridge in his office for snacks and that she could use it whenever she needed, as long as she didn't take up a lot of space. Olive would take him up on this idea of course, when he followed through and got the fridge. But for now, she had to go to the kitchen.
She got there and heard somebody inside. Olive figured it was the cook or something and payed no attention to it. She entered the kitchen and walked over to the refrigerator. Olive's heels inconveniently announced her arrival as they made a clicking sound on the floor. She opened the fridge and began to look inside.

At the same time, Ned was making the flour and stuff for his pie. He then realised he had not placed the fruit out yet. He looked around for the fruits and realised that his special ingredient was still in the kitchen. Ned sighed softly and walked over to the sink to wash his hands as both were full of flour on it. After doing so, he walked over to the fridge, noticing someone was opening it without his permission. Ned frowned while looking around before calling to her.
"Hey...No one is allow to be in the kitchen..."
As Ned walked closer, he realised that person was none other than Olive. He was shocked and speechless while looking at her. He then snapped out of it before looking at her. Its been pretty long since Olive, Chuck and him were seperated. Ned gulped slightly while clearing his throat, still behaving like a shy boy.
"Oh, Olive...Its you. What are you doing here?? I mean...yeah, that's what I mean. Um...Ho...How...Have you been?"

Olive moved a few things in the fridge, finding her lunch bag.
"Hey...No one is allow to be in the kitchen..."
She heard someone speak behind her, must be the cook her mind thought. But for some odd reason his voice made her heart skip a beat. It sounded so familiar. She grabbed her lunch bag and she turned around, her mouth dropped open. "Ned?"
"Oh, Olive...Its you. What are you doing here?? I mean...yeah, that's what I mean. Um...Ho...How...Have you been?"
Olive couldn't believe this. Was this really happening? She pinched herself to make sure, "Ow!" she said as the pinch did hurt and she realized this wasn't a dream.
"I'm wondering the same thing about you!" she replied. Olive went on, "Im just fine." she lied as at the discovery of Ned, the very person she ran away from being here, was sending her heart into panic mode. "I work here, at the school. I can't believe that you're actually here! She smiled slightly, still unsure of what to think of this.

Ned looked at her while wondering in his mind as still paying attention to what she was saying as well. Wait...Same her...Same me...just different place, maybe even wrong time. Ned cleared his throat for awhile while looking at her and letting her go on and on as he trying to think of something to say. Ned then smiled slightly back to her as she smiled to him. He rubbed his arm with the other hand while looking at her.
"Thats good...I mean, glad you are fine. Well, I just...come over here to be their cook and...as usual, baking pies...So, what you work as here? and...Just...wondering if you have any news of...Chuck?"
Ned then rubbed the back of his head while looking away slightly, knowing he was being stupid to ask her such question, but he just hoped that at least someone got some information about her being fine...or better. He then looked back at Olive while still rubbing the back of his neck.

Olive's smile wavered slightly at the mention of Chuck's name. Yes the girls had been somewhat friends but Chuck had gained something Olive wanted, the affections of the Pie Maker. "Chuck, last I heard she seemed to be doing well." She was slightly perplexed as to why Ned wouldn't know this himself. Had they a fight after Olive left?
She peaked into her lunch bag, checking the contents. Olive then looked back up at Ned, "I'm the Principle's secretary. It's a fun job so far."
Olive decided she could handle having Ned here, as long as she protected her heart this time, she would be fine. "I'm glad your working in the cafeteria, now we'll actually get food that's edible."

Ned smiled back, not wanting to feel all uneasy as its been long since they met again. Ned noticed the looked on her face, definitely not liking the speaking of Chuck's name. Ned was glad that she decided to let him know about Chuck. Ned smiled, slightly relieved that she was doing well, she was a person who could go along with anyone, she should be doing well, at least, better than himself. Ned noticed she peeped into her lunch bag to check what's inside the bag.
"So...You are working here as..."
Then Olive replied. Ned was slightly stunned when she said that. It was not that he didn't believe, he just couldn't imagine it. He then realised he was the only person that had never moved on. Sticking with the pies, being cook, being alone with Digby. Ned then snapped out of it when she started speaking again.
"You mean, all this while the food are not edible? Then those students...You guys forced yourselves to eat something thats...Rotten?"
Ned was being silly again. He realised what he just said and decided it was best to apologise.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that...But, I'm glad you are doing well and moving on happily."
Ned then looked away while rubbing the back of his neck again, feeling awkward saying those words.

Olive scoffed at what he had said about the food being rotten, "It might as well could have been, it certainly tasted like it was." She shook off the memories of the fowl food East High had endured. She smiled lightly at the Pie Maker's silliness.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that...But, I'm glad you are doing well and moving on happily."
"It's alright, thank you." She continued to smile, feeling her heart skip a beat again, "I'm just, happy to see a familiar face." Olive may seem like she had moved on but it reality she was far from it. She was enjoying life here but having a hard time adjusting. Every time Olive ate a piece of pie, memory's would come back. Olive looked away from him, realizing that she had been staring."So, how's Digby? I've missed him."

Ned turned back to look at Olive as she started to respond to Ned. Ned noticed her smile and he smiled back as well. It was the only time so far that he smiled beside people commenting on his pies. Ned nodded to agree with Olive about seeing familiar faces. Ned then was surprised her mentioning Digby. He was surprised because, he never thought she would still remember him.
"Still living..."
Ned realised he said something weird and quickly edit it.
"I mean, still alive, kicking, eating...Digby is fine."
Ned soon ended with a simple answer that he had no idea what took he so long just to say it.
"I believed he missed you too. Though sadly I can't bring him here, like ... home..."
Ned then gulped slightly while looking at her, feeling uneasy all of the sudden. Though he was really glad to see Olive again.

"Still living..."
Olive heard his first reply about Digby and cocked her head to the side in slight confusion. Then Ned went on to explain what he 'meant' and she nodded her head, understanding.
She smiled when the Pie Maker said that he believed the canine missed her too. Olive had been quite attached to Digby and had been sad to leave him behind. It was good to know her companion was doing well.
Her smile wavered at the mention of home. She wasn't sure what that was anymore. The Pie Hole had been her home for quite some time and now, she lived in an apartment and worked at the school. She liked living in an apartment and working at the school but, it still felt like something was missing. Perhaps it was the ever present smell of pies baking that filled the apartment above the Pie Hole, where she used to live. Well, now she would find out if in fact it was the scent or perhaps a familiar face.
"Yes, that's too bad. I'll have to come and see him sometime." Olive was trying to run away from the past but, it was just too hard when the past followed you. She was restraining her emotions as best she could, holding them back. Her brain computed this message fine but her heart was having a slightly harder time obeying.
She moved forward a step and looked up at him, "But, it will still be nice to have a little bit of home here." Olive said this softly, then realized what she had said. She shifted her glance and spoke up, changing the subject, "I'm sure East High will become a fan of your pies in no time!" she smiled. "The kids will actually want to eat at school. It will be great."

Ned watched her slightly then sighed softly as he recalled the past. When she kissed him and everything. She was a good helper and a loyal one but...Ned just simply sighed again. Ned wondered what would happened if he hadn't met Chuck first...Would everything be fine? Ned felt silly and stupid to think about these things in this period of time. Ned then snapped out of it and looked at her as she started to say and Ned replied after.
"I believe he will be quite happy to see you. And...Perhaps you can bring him for a walk some times or join us. If you have the time and want to..."
Ned then looked away slightly before clasping his hands behind his back, thinking about something else to say. He was not much of a talker but he wanted to say something or things will turned sourly bad. Ned then realised she took a step forward, closer to him while saying that it will be nicer to have a little bit of home here. Ned wondered what she was referring to. Ned then smiled back to her as she smiled. As Ned being who he is, he had no clue what Olive was saying, he just showed a slight nod and a weak smile. Ned then continued to listen to her and wondered.
"I'm trying. After all, this isn't The Pie Hole. Many things there won't be able to fit here. Well...I actually took the opportunity to apply as the school cook. Though, just temporary as the previous cook injured herself. I didn't know how she managed to contact me and everything but, this sure is a nice place to start building a home."
Ned then recalled something and decided to ask her just in case.
"So...You are not in a hurry or anything right? Perhaps you want to try my new pie...I placed mixed berries in it, but I am not sure about the flavouring...adding more or not needed. So...Perhaps you should eat your meal first before trying?"

Olive agreed with the pie maker, the school was most definitely not the Pie Hole. She held eye contact with him as he spoke. She really hadn't thought about how much time had past while she was talking to him. Lunch time would probably come quickly, too quickly.
"So...You are not in a hurry or anything right? Perhaps you want to try my new pie...I placed mixed berries in it, but I am not sure about the flavouring...adding more or not needed. So...Perhaps you should eat your meal first before trying?"
"Oh!" Olive looked at the clock on the wall, she had told the Principal she would be right back. Well, if Michael needed her he could come look for her. Olive hadn't had a pie made by the pie maker in a long time and now she had a chance to. Dare she? Well, it was just a piece of pie, what could it hurt? She opened her paper bag and looked in at the sandwich it held. She looked back up at Ned, "I wasn't really looking forward to eating this sandwich anyway." Olive set the bag down on the table, "I'd love a slice of pie." She smiled.

Ned looked a little stiff as he didn't know what he should do. He waited for her reply while looking around the place. He then looked up and down at her before looking at the clock. He recalled a little of the past but decided to shake that off as it was not a main point now. He wanted someone who knew his pies well, to try his newly creation mixed berries pies. His past creation was simple, plain and just one type of fruit in each pie, mainly, strawberries. Ned looked at his ingredients and heard the timer rang. He excused himself and headed to where the oven was.
He put on his oven gloves and opened the oven by the handle. He pulled the pie tray out, a freshly baked mixed berries pie was out. Ned decided to place a strawberry on top of the pie as decoration as well as a mint leaf below each strawberry. Ned smiled slightly, quite happy with his creation but taste was another thing that worried him. When he heard that Olive would love to try, Ned smiled even more and took off one glove to hold onto the pie knife, cutting a slice of the pie out. He placed the pie neatly on a plate and walked over to Olive. He handed her the plate of pie and waiting for her to try it.
"Hey, if it is awful, just let me know, don't have to finish everything or...try to hide anything. I...Perhaps thats for me, I am sick of hiding things. Never mind about that. Try it and give me any comments about it."

Olive waited patiently as Ned sliced her a piece of pie. She took the plate of warm pie from him and couldn't help but smile. Not only did the plate of pie warm Olive's hands but it also warmed her heart.
"Hey, if it is awful, just let me know, don't have to finish everything or...try to hide anything. I...Perhaps thats for me, I am sick of hiding things. Never mind about that. Try it and give me any comments about it."
She was about to agree with him about hiding things although she wasn't exactly sure what he meant. Olive would have to perhaps ask him later, now it was time for pie. She took a fork, severed off a small piece and ate it. The flavor danced on her taste buds, it was delightful. Then she took another bite looking very content. She swallowed before saying, "It's amazing Ned! The combination of the different flavors is irresistible." She then added with a slight giggle, "If this was the county fair, I'd give it a blue ribbon for sure!" She took another bite and was happy that she had declined eating her sandwich for one of Ned's pies. "How did you come up with this one?" Olive took another bite and awaited his answer.

Ned clasped his hands tightly behind his back while waiting for her respond about his newly creation pie. Ned hadn't made any daring moves ever since Chuck left him. Staring at the pies, made him recalled his mother, remembering the flavour of his mother's pie and love in his memories. Ned strove to move on by baking more pies. Ned knew the pies of one flavour won't capture his customers' stomaches, he decided to mixed berries after all, his favourite pie was strawberry pie. Ned snapped out of it when Olive interrupted his thoughts.
Ned smiled happily for the first time when Olive praised his newly creation. Ned wondered what she said could be a help of him as he never been to a country fair before. Ned was too busy with his pie life, nothing less. Ned then relaxed himself while knowing she enjoyed the pie, more than he thought she would. Ned was happy to know his newly creation did such a great impact but Olive won't be her only customer, that made him worried.
"Mother...I mean my mother...gave me that inspiration to bake pies. And me of course...moving on, making something new instead of sticking with the old. People will get sick sometimes, after all, Pie is Home..."
