Mariah had her schedule in hand, and was actually prepared for today's events. She had on her jean skirt, her favorite tank-top, and favorite pair of heels. The only thing getting in her way now, was the fact that she was lost. It was her first day at East High, and she was lost in a hallway. That's great...ode de joy She thought sarcastically to herself, her slight accent ever present in her thoughts.
She walked around and looked into a few class rooms, only to find strange looks from teachers and students who had known where to find their classes. She wandered the halls, her heels clicking as she paraded around. Her curly pony tail, bouncing as she walked. Mariah's only comfort was that she was in study hall now, and wasn't necessarily late just yet. However...class was to start soon enough.
Mariah continued her walking until she found a flight of stairs. That was all the sign she needed to realize she needed to stop and ask for directions. "This place is huge..." Mariah muttered underneath her breath. She laid her back-pack on the floor, and leaned back on the wall by the stairs. All she could do was wait for someone to walk by, and ask for directions.

Sharpay's day was starting out pleasantly enough. She had gotten dressed in her favorite polka dot ensemble and had helped Ryan pick what to wear so they didn't clash. She didn't realize how much she had missed doing such a simple thing as that, but these past days she had been going solo. It had been weird not putting as much thought into her outfits, but now things were back to normal and Ryan was ready to join her in school, once more.
Sadly they had arrived late because Ryan's hat had flown off when she had been driving maybe a bit too fast. So they had stopped and scoured the park for it only to see a small child was using it to put interesting things in it. If you'd call grass, toys, and a rock 'interesting things'. Thinking about it now made Sharpay grimace; kids could be so disgusting sometimes. She wanted to put off being a mom for as long as possible. If she was going to be a star it was the only responsible thing to do. Well, that was her excuse, anyways.
Now the Evans were walking to their first class of the day, homeroom. Sharpay's heels announced her location and were the only sounds to be heard in the emptying halls. She really didn't think it was a big deal, Ms. Darbus would be okay with it, and if she wasn't she'd blame Ryan. Easy as pie.
"This place is huge..."
"Tell me about it." She said before really seeing the speaker. At first Sharpay had simply walked past her and begun her march up the stairwell, her heels being even noisier against the metal stairs. But then she realized that this girl wasn't someone she knew...and why was she standing there, anyways? Sharpay backtracked to stand next to Mariah, staring at her with a confused look and obviously waiting for her to explain herself.

Ryan was glad things were starting to get back to normal. Being stuck at home really was very boring. Now it was back to coordinating outfits, seeing people and drama club! Things he had missed dearly while he was away.
He entered the school following Sharpay, as usual. He didn't always show up with her but most of the time, this is how it worked. He smiled as they began their walk to their destination. His cheek only hurt a tad now and wasn't as swollen as it had been after the fight. Ryan was happy it wasn't as noticeable anymore. Black and blue just didn't go with his outfit.
He was holding his hat in his hands as they turned the corner, he still felt like there was something in it. Ryan didn't mind kids, he just didn't like his hats to get dirty. He was paying close attention to his hat when they got to the stairs. Ryan heard someone speak and then Sharpay replied. He looked up just in time as Sharpay started to back track down the stairs. He moved out of the way so not to cause a collision. Ryan shook his head at this and followed Shar back down the stairs. As she stared at the new girl, Ryan stood behind her and continued to fiddle with his hat.

Mariah looked up for a moment when she heard a female voice reply to her. She wasn't expecting an answer, but it wasn't exactly unwanted. Mariah used her index finger to brush aside her curly bangs, and looked at her schedule once again. Before Mariah could really think anything else, she found herself being 'put under the microscope'. The girl she had received the answer from was standing before her, and wasn't alone. The girl in polka dot was followed a guy, seemingly playing with a hat.
Mariah just looked at the girl as if there was something that needed to be said. It was out of reaction to the look she had received only seconds before, that Mariah felt the need to clear her throat. Mariah looked away for a second, she couldn't help but let out a small smile. The slight silence seemed to provoke it. "Um...Hello..." Mariah said with a soft smile and a few confused thoughts running through her mind at the moment. She wasn't sure who this girl was, or why she was even looking at her like this. One thing did remain vivid in her mind, however.
She looks just like Tori... Mariah thought to herself with disdain. This girl looked pretty similarly to her back-stabbing ex-friend from back home. The red flags went off in her mind, but she couldn't exactly assume this girl was anything like Tori. All she could do was hope that the two were entirely different on the inside. Her gaze was averted to the guy behind her. He appeared pleasant, non threatening, qualities she looked for in people.
When she realized there was an interlude for speech, she decided that now was an opportune time to ask for directions. "I'm new, and I was just wondering if you could help me find my homeroom? I'm pretty lost..." Mariah said with a polite tone, just over her accent. Now would be a great way to see if she was like Tori, or possibly had a soul. Taking pity on the 'new girl' was a grade 'a' test to see if someone was nice, or better off avoided.

(I like your writing style) Sharpay was used to having people be so scared of her that they gave her what she wanted quickly. Things were smooth and painless then, and she liked it that way. So, when Mariah stared back at Sharpay, as if waiting for her to say something, Sharpay's curios face shifted to insulted. This wasn't how things worked here. The image of a pristine Musical number popped into her head: A stunning blond girl was moving to center stage when a brunette leaps when she should have chased', throwing the blond off. Sharpay's lip automatically curled at the thought. No one up-staged her. Not that that's what Maria was doing, but her small smile was simply wasting Sharpay's time, and people just didn't do that.
Just when Shar was about to turn away Maria spoke, her voice just as soft as her appearance. It was nauseatingly sweet, especially with her tint of an accent. Sharpay looked behind her at Ryan, who was still toying with his hat, with a look that read, 'are you seeing this?' When she looked back she wore an uninterested look, her pink lips pushed out into an almost kissy face, but you knew it meant boredom. It changed immediately when she saw the girl inspecting Sharpay, and if that weren't enough she looked dismayed!
Hello." She finally snapped in response, as if the drama queen's lack of greeting was what Maria was upset about. Sharpay had manners, she just didn't find they were needed all the time, but if it would remind that girl who she was talking to then she'd be frickin polite.
"I'm new, and I was just wondering if you could help me find my homeroom? I'm pretty lost..."
Sharpay sighed..or groaned, it was hard to tell, but it definitely showed irked impatience, and yet relief that Mariah had stopped analyzing her. Seriously, though? Another new girl? Where were they all coming from and why did they all have that same annoying, innocent quality?
"You're New." She stated, showing her dislike. It was almost as if the word itself felt bitter on her tongue. "Of course you are. And naturally she's in homeroom first. Isn't that terrific, Ryan?" She had turned to Ryan in mid-sentence. As she spoke she gave off sarcastic cheerfulness, as if to shout 'goody, more naive, sugary beauties to steal my roles!'

As this odd silence between Sharpay and the new girl was happening Ryan finally found the thing that had been bothering him in his hat. A lone blade of grass! He held it between two fingers, staring at it with an annoyed look.
Ryan liked to play some sports such as golf, tennis and base ball. All of these sports could result in dirtiness of some kind but, this grass hadn't been acquired in one of these games. It was not something that Ryan liked to have hanging out in his hair. He swept a hand through his hair, making sure there wasn't anymore. Ryan drooped the blade of grass on the ground and his attention was back on what was happening around him.
Ryan put his hat back onto his head, covering his blonde hair. He looked at the girl who had just finished speaking, she seemed nice to him.
Of course you are. And naturally she's in homeroom first. Isn't that terrific, Ryan?
Sharpay turned to him, he could tell his sister wasn't exactly thrilled to talk to the new girl. She probably saw her as more competition. "Great! Welcome to East High." He replied, trying to be friendly.

Mariah looked at the girl, returning the equally disdainful look this rude chick had given her. She was hardly about to leave that unnoticed, but she was cut off. She decided to go the extra mile, and be sarcastic out loud. She turned around to encourage the guy behind her to join in on her rude and unnecessary banter. Mariah wanted to open a mouth and say something, but there was no need for her to be just as rude as this devil in polka-dots.
One of her eye brows was raised in anticipation, and required her to move her bangs out of her eyes. After doing just that, she heard someone speak. The guy, now identified as Ryan, was actually polite to her. She had one strike against this girl now. She did actually have a similar inside to Tori....to Mariah it was just bleak. She shot her hand and gave a polite wave back before opening her mouth to speak.
Mariah put on a soft smile and then replied. "Thanks..." She uttered kindly, at least one of the two had a soul. "Would you mind showing me where my homeroom is?" Mariah asked, accentuating the 'you' and in her round about way tell the girl she was useless to her now. It wasn't in Mariah's nature to be rude, but the girl started it. That was the only thing keeping her playing at that level.

Ryan blinked in surprise, shocked that this new girl would openly dis his sister. Wow, she had spunk. He stared at Mariah, somewhat unsure how to respond. People generally didn't address him directly while his sister was standing there. He of course didn't mind being called on by the girl to help. He was usually happy to help.
"Um," he looked at Sharpay and back at Mariah, "Sure." He stepped out from behind Sharpay; who would most likely not be happy; and held out a hand to take a look at the new girl's schedule. "What's your room number?" Ryan was still uneasy about this but, he wasn't sure what else to do.

Sharpay seemed to have turned to stone when the girl openly dismissed her. Strangely her mind imedietly blamed Gabriella. If not for her people wouldn't be breaking from their sheep-y states and turning into independant and even saucy showstealers. Her jaw dropped when Ryan actually stepped forward to help her. Her brother, of all people, shouldn't be behaving like this! Why was he helping this rebel?
"Ryan!" She barked, glaring at him and his disobedience. (Sorry. It sucks. Blame my mum for rushing me.)

Mariah looked at Ryan with a gentle smile before handing him her schedule to examine. She handed it over with a soft nodd. It was good that atleast one of the two had decided to be generous. She heard the girl say Ryan's name with an entirely unhappy look. Mariah couldn't help but let out a chuckle. She covered her mouth for a second, but then stumbled upon an opiphany. She didn't have to inhibit herself for this rude chick. She got over dealing with Tori, and she would get over this girl much quicker than before.
Mariah flipped aside her bangs and smiled coyly at her foil. "Is there a problem?" Mariah asked with an uneffected look on her face. This girl was really no different than any other girl at any other school she'd went to. She needed to just come to that realization, and whether she wanted to or not, she might actually want to thank the nameless foil. And...yet...still not going to thank her. Mariah thought to herself about the girl. Looks like she won't be thanking her after all, but Mimi's heart wasn't bleeding just yet.
She shifted her gaze to Ryan, the helpful one. She let out a subtle breath, and a smile followed almsot as subtley. She recalled him asking her the room number, and forgot to answer. "Sorry, its room 203." Mariah offered peacefully. It was, after all, the least she could do for someone being nice enough to offer her help her. She ran her hands through her curly pony-tail as she awaited a diagnosis of her schedule. "So what's the verdit doctor?" Mariah asked playfully, now forgetting that the rude girl was there altogether.
(OOC:Sorry it took so long for the reply, and I just saw what you said before Sharpay. Thanks for the compliment.)

Ryan smiled slightly and took the piece of paper from her. As expected, Sharpay rebelled. Ryan looked up at Sharpay immediately after she had said his name. At first he didn't know what to say to her. Then when words came to him and he opened his mouth to speak, the new girl spoke out for him. "Is there a problem?"
He couldn't believe it, he blinked in surprise. Ryan looked at his sister apologetically. He hoped his first week back wouldn't result in more fighting and people to avoid. The girl turned her attention back to him and told him the room number. He glanced down at the sheet. He confirmed this with a nod.
"So what's the verdict doctor?"
Ryan looked back up at her and then to Sharpay, including her in the conversation. "Well, 203 is up stairs." he gestured to his sister, "that's where we're going, so you should just come along with us." He looked at Mariah and then his sister, holding out the schedule for the girl to take back. He hoped this would be ok. This didn't mean the two girls had to be friends or anything! He really just wanted today to go smoothly, and avoid conflict as much as possible.

Jude Driscoll slid inside the school, late, as usual, but just as confident as a student who had gotten there on time. He didn't used to be such a bad student and actually liked learning but, as someone somewhere had said (at sometime), "you become like those you spend time with". Jude spent his time with Max Summers, delinquent extroidinair. Max had been the only one who had made him feel welcome..or, more or less visible. Strangely they hit it off and were usually always seen together, along with Max's sister Zooey. He was by himself right now, though, and slinking up to his locker.
Jude had a bit of a ways to walk and decided that the halls were empty enough and far too quiet, so he started up one of his favorite songs, All My Lovin', by The Beatles. He had been told by Max that he had an 'okay' voice, which basically meant he sounded just like Paul Mcartney...he also held a resemblance to him (Zooey pointed that out).
Jude's voice echoed through the halls, though he was singing softly, out of consideration for the students who were actually IN class. At least, he was singing until her heard some voices, one shrill and feminine, one soft and..sort of boyish, and one with an accent. He stopped singing and kept walking to his locker, only to turn the corner and see that the people who had been speaking were in front of said locker. Jude approached and ran a hand through his messy brown hair when he saw who stood in front of it. Not Sharpay, of course, or her brother, but a beautiful new girl. What luck!
"Excuse me, that's my locker." He pointed behind the group, smiling only at Maria. Jude self consciously tugged at his plain blue shirt whilst pointing, 'accidentally' making his accent thicker. He had been told that girls thought English accents were hot.

Sharpay couldn't believe that this open rebellion was occurring in front of her. When she had shouted Ryan's name that didn't mean 'help her' that meant-Wait. Was she laughing at her?! Sharpay's mouth dropped as she gawked at Mariah. It dropped further, almost defying logic, as the girl pretended to innocently ask, 'is there a problem?' Sharpay snapped her jaw closed and glared icily at her, she'd let her know what her 'problem' was. She wasn't the ice princess for nothing!
As Sharpay opened her mouth to let her have it the girl ignored her and actually flirted with Ryan! Luckily he was too stu-naive to notice, or else Sharpay would have popped a vein. Ryan was always there for her, he never let her down. Well, actually he did, helping her at all wasn't what she wanted but he was just too darned sweet. When he looked at her, letting her make the decision she smiled as best she could, though it was obviously forced.
"Yeah, that sounds...fun." Already plans were forming in her mind of how to get her back-but they were interrupted by Jude. She looked at him with open disgust and rolled her eyes. He seemed to be under the new girl's spell too.

Mariah gave an appriciative smile to Ryan when he mentioned that she follow he and the rude girl. Just in that instant, she decided to leave room for a reply. She wasn't trying to be rude, but disrespect merrits disrespect, and the blonde girl started it. Before anything new could be said, another guy came over to the group. "Excuse me that's my locker" She heard, carrying an accent in its own right. It was preceeded by an appealing looking stranger, and the followed by a smile in her directions.
Mariah looked back with a soft smile, she didn't really know how to react. "Oh...sorry." Mariah said with a slightly late response. She was off in her own mind for a moment. She stepped aside upon the realization that he had actually said something. She was a little hung on the accent, it wasn't one she had heard before, but it was intreging. Then she heard the girl speak, and something else dawned on her. She still hadn't learned the name of the rude girl, not that calling her the rude girl wasn't a correct and honest statement in Mariah's way of thinking.
She nodded slightly, still not really caring much what the girl had to say, but getting a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. Why would 'Evilina' suddenly be okay with Mariah coming along to class? Could she have really had a change of heart so quickly? Ha! Mariah thought to herself, scoffing at her own thoughts of a changed 'mean girl'. There was clearly something wrong with this picture, but she had no prove, and so nothing to say she was wrong. For now all she could do was go with the flow. She turned her attention to the appearently British guy, and let out a subtle smile out of absence of anything else to say to him.

Ryan could tell Sharpay wasn't super thrilled about showing the new girl to her homeroom. She didn't seem too mad about it ether. What was she planing? Ryan's thoughts shifted from this when an English kid he hadn't seen before asked them to move. This guy must have arrived at the school when he was gone last week. Ryan hoped that there wasn't too much that had gone on while he was absent. Sharpay had said she would fill him in on anything he needed to know. So far he only knew what she had told him earlier about the Principal being new and a few other things.
The British started to come over and he stepped out of the way, now next to Sharpay again. There was now an awkward silence in the group. Ryan glanced at his peeved sister then to Mariah and then to this Brit. Ryan generally wasn't the one to speak up but this was awkward and they were late to class. "I think we should go." he looked at Sharpay and then Mariah. If he had a watch he would have referred to it but, alas he wasn't wearing one.
