Jude ignored Sharpay rolling her eyes and her impatient foot tapping. He'd met girls like her before, they ran rampant in London. Apparently the snobby English girl was very 'in' there. But he found it very unattractive, no matter where he was. He preferred sweet girls with charisma and character; and with one smile he figured Mariah fit into that category. Besides which she was very pretty and confident, behind her nervous 'mask'. He walked past the group and with a few spins on his lock he quickly unlocked his locker and took out some books. Then he casually turned around and leaned against the door, hearing the satisfying 'click' that meant he'd locked it.
"New, huh?" He asked, having figured it out from the schedule in her hands. No one without a memory issue still carried around their schedules. He had barely glanced at it when he'd first arrived a week ago. In fact, he still didn't know exactly where he was supposed to be when. "Need any help?" Jude nodded to the paper. He heard Ryan saying something about going but figured he was speaking to that snotty girl; they looked related.

Sharpay made a face at Jude's back and began to tap her foot impatiently. She'd become very good at this over the years, since she hated having to wait for anything. It was a talent of hers, as was eye rolling, which she was doing when Mariah and Jude started their 'googly eyes'. It was sickening and reminded her of Troy and Gabriella, immediately making fools of themselves. What a waste of time.
Sharpay raised her eyebrows at Ryan at his comment and widened her eyes as if to say, "well, chya!" She had thought Mariah had wanted to get going, she seemed the type to want to get to class on time, which only made her pairing with this rebel even odder. Sharpay's plan might have to be put off, which was dissatisfying but it would save her time. After seeing that Jude was blatantly ignoring her she turned on her heel, tossed her hair as if she was tossing off his 'loser aura' and began back up the stairs. (Sorry for taking sooo long!)

Mariah nodded at Ryan, and then heard the English boy speak. She turned her head slightly to better hear the new guy speak. She nodded softly and smiled. "Yeah...I guess I seem to be wearing a sign." Mariah uttered a chuckle, it seemed like she really was. Ryan and the evil blonde girl seemed to know she was new without a second glance, and apparently so did the guy. She heard him ask if she needed help, and bit her bottom lip in response. She didn't want to be rude to Ryan, but she didn't really want to have to watch her back near the mean girl. She looked from the handsome stranger, to Ryan. Before she could speak, the girl began up the stairs.
"She seems...happy." Mariah said sarcastically, seeing the girl leave. "I didn't mean to cause any trouble, if you want to go after your friend, I can get directions from..." She said softly, subtley pointing to the new guy. "I'm sorry...I'm Mariah, and you are..." Mariah said with a smile. So far everyone here seemed particularly nice, well all except the blonde chick. Mariah stood there waiting for a response from either of the guys. She really didn't mean to cause trouble with the other girl...but in Mariah's defense, she did start it first.

Ryan moved his head just in time from getting whacked by Sharpay's hair throw. He did not want Sharpay's hair in his face. He glanced back and watched her as she started up the stairs. This was definitely in response to his comment of leaving. He didn't want to be later then they already were, Sharpay had to agree. Miss Darbus would of course cut the twins slack as she always did though.
He looked to Mariah who commented on his sister. She was right Sharpay couldn't be happier to get out of there. Mariah seemed like such a nice person though. Ryan smiled and nodded as she said he could leave, "Hey, it's cool, Sharpay's just not the best with new people um, yeah. Well, I should go but, it was nice meeting you, I'm Ryan by the way." He introduced himself and took a step toward the stairs, "Good luck, see ya around." he gave her a warm smile and started up the stairs.

Jude grinned, seeming almost surprised at her sense of humor. He liked her even more for being able to joke and be so confident even though she was new. He replied, "Don't worry, I bet by tomorrow you'll have lost your 'new kid' aura." Jude had wanted to say, 'that new kid smell', referring to new cars, but caught himself in time. Girls weren't usually the best when being teased about their scents. He should know, he had once teased Sharpay for her strong 'greaspaint' smell. He had thought he was being clever in his referal to the theater and greaspaint and had wanted to test her limits, she didn't think it was funny, though. Maybe that's why she couldn't stand being near him any longer...or maybe it was Mariah's new-ness, as Ryan had mentioned.
Jude glanced at Ryan and then after Sharpay, but all he could see was a flash of blond hair. He felt pleased Mariah didn't follow Shar and wanted him to show her around when the bell was sure to ring any moment. He was also glad the two were about to leave them alone. He grinned at mariah and told her, "Jude." He offered his hand, always one for physical contact. "Like the song."

Mariah let out a soft laugh at the stranger's comment. "It's fine being new, if I could survive her, then I think I'll be okay." Mariah said with a smile. It really didn't matter to Mariah what the rude girl had to say, or really what she thought of her. After all that, she still didn't get the girl's name. Not that Mariah would lose any sleep over not knowing her name. Her thoughts were braught out of their track when the stranger announced his name. "Jude"...."Like the song"
As he extended his hand, she took it to shake softly. "Mariah...like the song." Mariah said with a soft chuckle. "Though my song isn't as well known...." Mariah said with a subtle shrug. [glow=teal,2,300]"They call the wind Mariah"[/glow] She sang softly to Jude. She liked Jude, he seemed pretty laid back, and that was definately something she needed right now. She wasn't acustomed to singing for strangers, but she felt comfortable with Jude, so it seemed okay. She used her free hand to brush aside her bangs, and let a smile slip out .

[Sorry for not replying sooner, I though Ryan was going to post something.]
Jude nodded, agreeing that if she could endure the drama queen, queen of drama, then she'd be fine. Sharpay was tough, to be able to smile after meeting her... Well, if you weren't a boy then that was quite a feat.
Jude held her hand a bit longer then necessary, smiling at her response. He tried to remember a song with that title but couldn't. Then she sang part of it, her voice making a folksy and irking song almost lyrical. He had heard of it, though he didn't know it word for word like he did 'Hey Jude'. It just wasn't one of his favorite songs but the words were okay, especially with Mariah singing it. He tried to recall a line of the song, apart from the obvious line, 'they call the wind Mariah'. All that came to mind, as he scratched the back of his neck and looked down was the beginning,
"...Way out here they got a name For rain and wind and fire The rain is...Tess? The fire Joe, And they call the wind Maria" He sang, a bit stilted and stumbling, but his voice was smooth and warm, even when he paused where there wasn't a pause. He tried to remember how the rest went but couldn't, so he shook his head chuckling, and shrugged. "That's all I remember."
Most people would rather eat a cockroach then sing in front of a stranger, but if Jude was confident in anything it was in singing. Sure his voice wasn't experienced and he hadn't been taught Music Theory, but that's part of why he liked singing. For him he didn't have to do those things, he could sing and he would sing, because he loved it. People would leave or disappoint you, but Music would always be there, constant and unchanging.

Mariah let out a soft giggle as Jude held her hand, she almsot didn't know what was suppose to be funny, but to her it didn't matter. She let out a subtle smile as he sang a few lines of 'her song'. "That's fine, the only line I really knew from the song was what I sang for you." Mariah said with a gentle shrug of her shoulders. It wasn't really the type of music she listened to that profusely. Mimi brushed aside her bangs and looked at Jude with a bright smile.
"So...are you still going to show me around the school?" Mariah asked with a quick glance to the ground, and then to Jude's eyes. She was already happier she stayed with him rather than go with Ryan and the mean chick. Ryan seemed really nice, but that other girl was in a definate need of an attitude ajustment. Everyone seemed to get there's just when they needed it, and in all due time. Mimi just wanted to be there when her unraveling moment was going on. She didn't want to be the one to cause it, just to get a front row seat. Mariah blinked and then her thoughts faded out of her mind. She was looking back to Jude, awaiting a response from the kind stranger.

"Yeh, well, it's sort of obscure." Jude again shrugged. As he watched her move her bangs he tilted his head to the side, something he did when he wasn't focusing. Mostly the boy would fall into this habit when in class, along with a glazed look that shouted, 'I'm not listening'. He wasn't aware of this trait of his, so he had no idea how teacher's knew he wasn't paying attention. Other then the fact that he didn't answer any of their questions. Now he wasn't focusing on their lack of time but instead her. He found this 'habit' of hers to be cute. Not only that, but she could sing and wasn't afraid to do so. "You have a really nice voice, by the by." He grinned.
He lifted his head when she asked about being shown around, that's what he was supposed to be helping her with, after all. Jude nodded, running his tongue over his lips, which were dry from smiling. Then he took a step closer to her and took a hold of the paper. He didn't snatch it from her but just held it, as if asking, 'may I?'
"So, I think I overheard something about homeroom, yeh?" He asked, his accent automatically slurring the American word, "yeah'.

Mariah nodded and smiled subtley, Jude was definately right about her song being 'obscure', to say the very least. She looked at him, and his kind of dazed look at her. She let out a soft giggle at him, he seemed to be content in his own world. Mariah was often daydreaming herself, she could definately appriciate someone else enjoying their own trips into the inner levels of their mind. She heard Jude compliment her voice, and could help but smile. She looked down and blushed slightly. "Thank you very much." Mariah said as her eyes lie on the ground, and then rose to meet Jude's.
She gave Jude her schedule willingly, and nodded. Mimi couldn't help but let out a soft laugh at Jude's accent, it was cool. It just made her want to giggle, it was kind of inexplainable to someone outside of her mind. She thought there was something there, like she felt it, but it wouldn't be the first time she was reading songs wrong. As Mariah thought, Jude spoke, and she'd need to respond. She shook her head, and returned to the conversation from her internal moment. "Yeah...it's...upstairs I would assume. Ryan said we had the same homeroom so..." Mariah confessed, the thought of the mean blonde girl, not crossing her mind. She was too preoccupied with Jude to really care about the dragon girl.

When Mariah chuckled at his statement Jude was a bit confused, had he said something wrong? He felt like he should know what he had done and react to it but couldn't figure it out. He merely smiled bigger, just noticing her blush from when he'd complimented her. Her tan hid it, but he could tell she was bashful from his praise. Jude's thoughts flew from her laugh, which he decided he would stop analysing, to her humility. He'd keep that in mind, it gave him good ammunition for if he wanted to tease her, and tease her he would. Not because he wanted to bully her but because he was playful by nature.
Jude glanced at the paper, listening to her tell him where her class was. Jude didn't share that class with her, actually, as he scanned the page, he noted thet he only shared lunch and biology with her. That was a bit of a shame, it would have been nice to have some more friends in class he could goof off with.
"Upstairs, to the right." He grinned, proud that he knew this fact, since he hardly knew where his classrooms were. As he turned towards the stairs the warning bell rang, and he heard distant footsteps as students rushed to get to their classes on time. Jude was now walking up the steps and looked at Mariah with raised eyebrows, "Guess I'll have to give you the full tour at a later time. Might wanna hurry now, though."

Mariah looked up the stairs when Jude pointed out that's where she would need to go to get to class. Her only bleak thought was that she'd have to deal with that blonde chick, but she'd get over it, probably before she got to the top of the steps. Her attention went from the stairs, back to Jude as she heard a bell ring through the school's hallways. As she heard him speak, she knew it was time to leave. Uhh....class.... Mariah thought to herself with distain and emense discontent.
Mariah tilted her head down, letting her bangs cover the right side of her face. It was something she just did when she wanted to hide an emotion, or whatever it was she was thinking. It didn't happen as often as she would push them aside, but it still happened generally. "Hope you won't forget." Mariah said with a smile as she looked up, her bangs still sheltering her face. "Thanks for your help. I guess I'll see you later then..." Mariah said, grabbing her back-pack, and beginning to go up the stairs.

"I won't forget." He grinned, his hands pocketed. Jude was a live for the moment kind of guy so his mind was steady on the girl above him, not on class, which he would probably end up skipping anyways. He believed in taking off days to 'smell the roses' every now and then, especially on sunny days where his mind would be wondering anyway. It wasn't like he would be able to learn anything when his mind was frolicking elsewhere.
"Mariah!" He called, jogging up the steps to where she stood.

Mimi smiled subtley to hereslf as she heard Jude reply. After that, she made her waywards the stairs. Mariah had the top of the stairs in sight as she heard a voice call out to her from elsewhere. She quickly turned her head, her hair flying as if she was whiplashed. She turned completley around when the sight of Jude came into her view. A smile ran across her face, and as quickly as it came, she quickly tried to subdue it. She brushed aside her bangs, and looked at Jude.
She cleared her throat slightly, not really knowing what was going to happen to her next. She adjusted her back-pack on her shoulders, and looked at Jude in anticiaption of what he was going to say to her.
